Dhanbad Junction has station code DHN. Dhanbad Rail Division comes under East Central Railway zone. NH 2 and NH 32 pass through Dhanbad city. NH 2 has now been converted to Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) which has origin in Kolkata and extends up to Delhi. Passage from Dhanbad to Kolkata will be converted into six lane Expressway. NH 32 connects Govindpur to Bokaro-Jamshedpur-Barbil.
